Communication with your massage therapist (me!) is going to ensure for a pleasant experience during your Thai massage. Asking questions and addressing any concerns will help to put you at ease before and during your session.. Talking to your massage therapist before your begin your session will help your massage therapist to get to know you, your body, help them to identify goals for the session and create a massage specific to your needs.
Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have before your first session of Thai massage.
Please let me know if I can adjust pressure, stretches, or if you would like more pillows for support at anytime during your session. This is totally normal! Communication is how I can ensure you are enjoying your session!
Artificial hip or knee, other surgical implant, medical conditions, or injuries? Let me know! I have experience working with many, many bodies As a massage therapist I can create a Thai massage session which feels safe, relaxing and therapeutic for you.
Come with an open mind. Thai massage will be different from table massage. If you are able to stay present and try to soften or relax your body, you might find yourself focusing less on comparison during your massage and more able to relax and drift away.
Wear loose comfortable clothing. Sweats, joggers, leggings, athletic type pants are all great. A long or short sleeve T-shirt, a stretchy top, will do. Something comfortable and cozy. Please no shorts, jeans, dresses, skirts, or tank tops!
If you have scheduled a massage with herbal compress please wear clothing that you do not mind getting potentially stained yellow from the turmeric in the steamed herbal compresses and coconut oil balms. I will have traditional Thai pants worn during Thai massage as well as T-shirts available in a variety of sizes, in case you forget.
Do some research! It is always good to have more than one source for information!. I practice traditional Thai Massage which combines acupressure, sen line (energy line work), along with some passive stretching. Not all sessions have to include stretching, we can slowly ease into this or omit it all together if you would like!
